Social Wellbeing
Here you will find resources and information regarding social wellbeing.
What is Social Wellbeing?
Social wellbeing can be defined as the sharing, developing, and sustaining of meaningful relationships with other people, and with local and global communities. Social wellbeing allows you to feel authentic and valued and provides a sense of connectedness and belonging.
Preferences for social activity can vary widely from person to person, but humans are essentially social creatures and engaging in our shared spaces and community activities remains an important part of our overall wellbeing.
Springmount intends to support and encourage the social wellbeing of our employees by increasing social opportunities among our staff through volunteer events, social events, and companywide initiatives such as donation drives or fitness challenges.
Springmount also hopes to promote individual social wellbeing among staff by providing you with resources and information on how you can pursue social wellbeing and connectedness in the community outside of work and in your neighbourhoods.

Volunteering
Volunteering is the act of willing giving your time to a cause, often for the common good or benefit of others without financial gain or compensation.
Volunteering can be informal or formal. Informal volunteering looks like helping friends and family with things like care, household projects, or moving. Formal volunteering is typically done through an organisation such as a charity, community organisation, or other non-for-profits.
Volunteering can give you a sense of meaning and purpose and can be fun and enjoyable which in turn may be a benefit for your wellbeing.
Volunteering either formally or informally is usually done in a group, which also makes it an excellent activity for promoting social wellbeing.
There are many organisations across Australia that are looking for volunteers to support the important work they do for vulnerable communities and groups. If you are interested in volunteering, you can look for available positions using the links below.

Community Involvement
Getting involved in your local community is another fantastic way to promote your wellbeing.
Many city council websites have a central place where you can search for local events and activities that you are interested in such as joining a community garden or attending live events. These are fantastic places to meet people with shared interests.
Check out the City Council websites below for local community events and activities. If your state and local council is not listed try searching the internet for the name of your city council and “city council activities” i.e. “Brisbane City Council Activities.”
